Often when people are being rehoused after spending time living on the streets, or in prison or in a domestic refuge they are offered a tenancy with the council, a housing association or a private landlord. Often they will have to move very quickly with very little belongings or furniture. The accomodation they are given will often not be furnished but also may well need decorating or the garden tidying and rubbish from the previous tenant needing clearing. This is when people are most in need of help. Anyone who wishes to give time must supply us with a referrence from their church leader before they can engage with someone in need.

As a group

Often groups from local churches will approach us because they want to give time to help someone in need by undertaking a gardening or decorating project. We will guide you through the process of deciding what you realistically might be able to achieve, what equipment you might need and what you might expect on the day of the project. If this is something that your group might want to do do contact us and we will talk you through the process.

As an individual

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to give in a way that suits you. Perhaps you would like to join the van crew who collect and deliver furniture, white goods and other items of larger furniture.

You could come and join us in our smaller items store in Woodseats where we sort and clean items which go to make up starter packs of essential items. In time you could join the team who organise assessments and arrange, van runs, decorating and garden projects.

We do not want you to be limited by what we have done in the past – we are always open to new ideas.
